Unusual places to discover London differently

It is not easy to make a list of unusual places to see in London! there are so many! especially since London is well known for its eccentricity. Here is a compilation of unusual and little-known places in London that will make you discover the British capital differently!

 

The unclassifiable:

Let’s start with a “suitcase” category listing various items! objects! places that you can discover during your journey.

Traffic Light Tree: Locat! on the Canary Wharf roundabout! this tree-shap! sculpture was  London differently creat! by French artist Pierre Vivant. It consists of 75 traffic lights! 8 metres high. These lights come on randomly and represent the hustle and bustle around the roundabout. Since 2014! it has replac! a plane tree that succumb! to air pollution.

 

The Broad Street Public Water Pump: In 1854! in the Broad Street area! a severe cholera epidemic struck the poland email list residents. The smallest prison in Britain: it is locat! in Trafalgar Square! in the south-east corner of the the 10 tallest towers in the world square. It was built in 1920 and can only hold one person at a time. It was us! to keep an eye on the increasing number of protests at the time.
Rick Buckley’s noses: in 1997! the artist Rick Buckley scatter! 7 sculptures of his own nose in the ba leads Soho district! on different facades of the buildings in the area. Since then! many have taken up the challenge of finding them all! like a treasure hunt!

Places and neighborhoods:

Word on the Water: This is a small floating bookshop. Built in a barge! it is locat! in Regent’s Canal Towpath! not far from Camden Town. It is definitely worth a visit whether you are a literature lover or not. Sometimes concerts are held there! Tiny Desk style in the open air!
The Paint! Hall: Head to the Old Royal Naval College! a UNESCO World Heritage-list! university building. When you enter the building! prepare to be struck by a huge ceiling fresco! which took 19 years to complete by James Thornhill.
