With the Digitization 5.0 project, Skaza is introducing the product’s digital passport, machine vision and other forms of production automation

The company Skaza from Velenje has been dictating the role of trends in the plastic industry for 46 years, mainly through the aspect of sustainability. In order to be able to follow this trend further, they have set some goals with which they are approaching industry 5.0. Part of this is also the Digitization 5.0 project, which brings digitization and automation.

Niko Medved, assistant general manager of Skaza, said:

For the successful execution of orders from global multinationals, it is crucial that Skaza invests in the further development of production. Also to facilitate dealing with the consequences of the global energy crisis. However, we are also successfully tackling this challenge with the help of the Skaza 5.0 digitization and automation project.

The Digitization of Skaza 5.0. project, which is worth more than €4.2 million, of which the European Union contributes more than €1.9 data library of telegram million from the NextGenerationEU fund, is Skaza’s first step towards industry 5.0. The company pointed out that their goal is not complete automation, but the empowerment of their employees.

One of the key innovations that the project brings is the product’s digital passport. This will provide access to data on the origin, composition and proportion of recyclate.

The projects also include the construction of a solar power plant, the implementation of machine vision for inspecting manufactured parts, and a ca cell numbers predictive analytics system. The latter will result in a better creation of future production scenarios. Some of the solutions have already been implemented. One such is e.g. a collaborative robot that performs work alongside a worker in a factory.
